The sow2grow project was developed to encourage sustainable living and interaction with your physical community.

SOW2GROW objects are constructed from special paper using post-consumer materials and are embedded with wildflower, herb or vegetable seeds. When you plant the paper in a pot of soil or outside in a garden, the seeds in the paper germinate and grow into plants. It is tested and approved for planting in the United States, Canada, Australia, as well as many other countries worldwide.

HOW TO SOW2GROW

It’s easy to plant and grow! We’ve provided step-by-step instructions on how to use your sow2grow object.

Step 1: Disassemble your object

Disassemble the sow2grow object by cutting on tearing into 2″x2″ pieces. Make sure you save the piece with our website URL! (thesow2growproject.com)

Step 2: Prepare your pot

Fill your pot 2/3 full with good potting soil. Tamp down the soil and add more if necessary. You want the pot to be firmly full, but not packed. The paper can be planted indoors or outside, so you get to choose according to the temperature and conditions at the time of planting (we don’t recommend planting outside if it’s blizzarding or desert-hot!).

Step 3: Plant the paper

Take your plantable paper and cover the soil in the prepared pot with the paper. It’s okay if the paper overlaps. Spread a 1/8 inch layer of soil over the plantable paper pieces and tamp down gently. Definitely plant no deeper than 1/4″.

Step 4: Water during germination

After planting the paper in your pot, give it a good soak. You want the paper and the soil to be nicely damp but not swimming in water. During the first 10 days, keep the paper moist at all times. The water is necessary for germination. You should start to see sprouts in around 5 days!

Step 5: Care after germination

Once sprouts appear, continue to keep the paper moist but be careful not to overwater. Once sturdy plants appear, water as needed. Wildflowers LOVE the sun so pick a location that has plenty of sunshine throughout the day.

Step 6: Enjoy the flowers

Once the flowers (or herbs or vegetables) start to blossom, enjoy them in the pot or cut them and place in a decorative vase for a neighbor.

SOW2GROW objects are constructed from plantable, biodegradable eco-paper that is made with post-consumer materials and embedded with seeds. When the paper is planted in a pot of soil, the seeds grow and the paper composts away. All that is left behind is flowers, herbs or vegetables and no waste.

WILDFLOWERS

Besides for the fact that planting wildflowers is a beautiful way to spread nature and enjoy the outdoors, there are several benefits to growing them in your neighborhood or backyard.
  • As pollinator plants, wildflowers help to support declining bee populations.
  • Creates a habitat for birds, butterflies and other insects
  • Some wildflower species and insects have become extinct due to increased agriculture. By planting wildflowers we can help keep these species alive and spreading.
  • They help maintain a healthy eco-system.
  • Wildflowers are low maintenance and easy to grow. They can be used in parts of the garden which are difficult to cultivate conventionally because they have naturally adapted themselves to suit difficult situations in order to survive.
  • As do all plants, wildflowers will help improve the air quality of our planet

HERBS & VEGETABLES

Can you think of anything better than harvesting herbs and vegetables from your own garden or directly off your patio? With this selection of seeds, you’ll be able to do just that.
  • By planting herbs and vegetables you can help eliminate rural and urban food deserts.
  • The seeds are non-GMO. No chemicals, dyes, or additives.
  • Eco-friendly, made with 100% recycled ingredients.
